Planning our move back home.

Living in Reno has been an………… experience, and after very little reflection we are moving back to Washington state by the summer of 2027.

The truth is, we don’t love it here. Reno has its charm, but it’s been a place of feeling alone and isolated, and frankly promises from my husband’s work were broken. We are both frustrated with the way some things played out because they weren’t as described leaving us in the weeds. Being far from our loved ones, our community, and the familiar surroundings of home has taken a toll on us emotionally. We miss the warmth of family gatherings, the comfort of old friends, and the sense of belonging that comes from being close to those we care about.

We want to be back in Washington because that’s where our roots are, where our support system lives, and where we truly feel at home. We believe that being near loved ones will bring us closer, help us regain a sense of connection, and improve our overall well-being.

However, there’s a practical challenge we’re facing: figuring out how to afford the move. We don’t think we’ll be able to save enough money in time, so we’re exploring all options. It’s a stressful part of the process, but we’re determined to find a way because being near our family and friends is worth the effort.

While the move will take time and planning, we’re excited about the future. We look forward to reconnecting with family, building new memories with friends, and finding the comfort that only home can provide. It’s a step toward reclaiming our happiness and feeling truly at peace.

To anyone feeling homesick or isolated, know that you’re not alone. Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is follow our hearts back to where we belong and that includes figuring out how to make it happen.
